Lego tie fighter

Friday, December 18th, 2009

I got a great new Lego set from Chelsea for X-mas. As soon as I got home, I busted it open and went to work. I can’t express in words how much joy I get from assembling a Lego set. I guess it just brings back some really awesome childhood memories for me. Whatever the reason, I had a blast putting it together. Thanks again Chelsea!

The catch

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

There were drinks. Then we were standing around in the cold with nothing to do. That’s when nonsense like this happens. Nick thought I couldn’t catch him while simultaneously throwing my leftovers up for him to catch. Not only did we do it, but on the first try. Hey, I have to be good at something.

The other night…

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Played some “Rock Band” at Che`s birthday party over the weekend. Decided my friends needed to be immortalized while playing their rendition of “Hungry Like The Wolf” by Duran Duran. Oh yeah, these are the people I really connect with.

An instant substitute

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

So I went to Target earlier this evening, as I often do when we’re out of ice cream and serving dishes. Che` and I were trying to pick out a couple of platters for an upcoming party but I was distracted. Target has these “instant substitute” cards they put up when they are out of a given product, but I found myself wondering who comes up with the substitutions. Take for example this suggestion:

Target substitute

Problem #1: Both of these products have the material of the product in their names. Those materials are not the same. In what universe is that an acceptable substitute? “Oh, I’m sorry. We’re out of rubber tires, how about just using these wheels made of cheese instead. It’s our Instant Substitute!”

Target substitute

Problem #2: Hmm, you know what I really need to tie together my service set? A nice 12″ rectangular platter. Oh, they’re all out. Guess I’ll settle for an exact opposite shape. Really Target?
